Counseling that Works for You!
I am trained and experienced in working with individuals, couples, and groups. I use several different types of therapies, which may include: Person Centered Therapy focusing on authentic support, empathy, and encouragement, building positive support and positive relationship, with unconditional positive regard. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), focusing on changing thoughts and behaviors. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) which focuses on reprocessing negative, problematic and traumatic memories and thoughts, replacing those with a more accurate positive thought or belief, and then finding yourself in a much better place of acceptance and healing. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) focuses on learning how to hold oneself, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in balance better managing and coping with life's ups and downs. DBT offers many individual skills in four main areas, including: Mindfulness Skills, Distress Tolerance Skills, Emotional Regulation Skills, and Interpersonal Effectiveness Skills.

My office is located in the old S&T Bank building on Philadelphia St. Centrally located in the downtown area and easy to access. The space is comfortable, safe, and private. I have been in this location going on four years. Both IUP Students, and downtown professionals have expressed their fondness for this classic old building with its architect, woodwork, and stairways. I hope that you too will find this place comfortable and private. Here I enjoy listening to and helping people. My office hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 7 pm. When I'm not working I enjoy taking some time for myself, reading, walking my dog, cooking, yoga, and meditation. Please call me if you think this might be a good fit for you!
