Hello and welcome!
I'm so glad you're here.
As a licensed professional counselor, my approach is all about creating a warm, client-centered space where you can feel heard and supported. I believe strongly in empowering you to discover your own strengths and resilience. I focus on client-centered talk therapy and integrate relaxation techniques, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral strategies to help you along the way.
My philosophy is that therapy is a collaborative journey, and I'm here to walk that path with you.
I believe that all people are valuable and unique and should be treated with dignity and respect. I want to provide a safe, calm place for you to be able to talk about the things that are on your mind. I like to begin with helping people learn how to relax, breathe, feel calm, grounded and centered. Some ideas for counseling and things to think about might include better managing and decreasing drama in your life, decreasing and eliminating anxiety, and understanding depression while learning how to decrease negative self-talk, understand and resolve trauma, as well as learning to understand and control anger. Learning how to roll with change with the hope of moving toward understanding and acceptance. Developing a healthier self-esteem and strengthening your self-worth will help you become more resilient. I can also help you with grief and loss, to better understand what you may be experiencing and helping to make sense of it all. Together we will work towards reaching your goals for counseling and feeling more at peace. Let me help you. Thank you, Barb Elkin Please give me a call 724.471.8171.
